Summer Blog

This summer was one that I will never forget. I still remember being scared on my first day and a lot of 8th graders saying hello to me because they recognized me from my 5th grade year. I had just come from a church event meaning I missed the first few days. I also remember Olivia coming to help me with the Hawaiian core values notes in summer bridge and Ms. Shayna telling me how to design my summer bridge notebook. we did a lot of fun activities, but at first I was not ready for workday's, but after my first day at workdays where I remember doing work and cleaning the whole time, Then I left for a trip and when I came back and we were doing activities and games, then we all had lunch for the meet and greet. June 18th came and it was time for schedule pick up, it was the first day of schedule pickup, that day was for 7th graders. The first day was busy and tiring. I was starting to lose my energy by the end of the day. The very next day was June 19th, this day was for 8th graders. I felt more at ease, I remember walking in confidently and ready. It was definitely still tiring and i remembered getting way more faster than the 7th graders day. After the 2 days of  schedule pick up we just did extended schedule pick up.

Some of my highlights was summer bridge and being able to make new friends and reconnect with some old friends. During summer bridge I got to do activities with teamwork and it overall was a really fun time. I was able to meet Anela, Emma, Valerie, Jacob, Cassell, Alex, Naomi, Ariya, Olivia and Riselle. Leadership allowed me to meet these cool kids, and I am so grateful for being able to meet these people. I got to see sienna, Cheyanne, Mikayla, and Gledys. I was happy to see sienna because i used to hangout with her almost everyday when we were kids. Some of my lowlights was not being comfortable at first until around the 6th week there. Also that I didn't make friends earlier because it would have made the beginning a lot better.

One lesson I learned is that it sometimes responsibilities are really important. I also learned more teamwork building and that its not only you, the whole team can struggle if you aren't during your job, same goes for the others. In all these lessons I learn what it means to be a leadership member. So in conclusion I am super happy that I joined leadership.
